Officials discuss optimizing shipping flow at Aqaba Port

Amman, May 16 (Petra) – Ministry of Transport Secretary-General Fares Abu Dayyeh on Saturday chaired a meeting of the Transport and Trade Facilitation Committee with President of the Association of Owners of Cargo Shipment and Clearance Companies Deifallah Abu Aqoula, and Jordan Shipping Association Chairman Zaid Al-Kalaldeh to discuss operational and procedural matters related to freight shipping and customs clearance at Aqaba Port.

The meeting tackled ways to enhance the efficiency of procedures and streamline the flow of shipping and goods, reduce time and costs, improve operational efficiency, and enhance operational flexibility and logistics management in the Port of Aqaba, the ministry said in a press release.

Abu Dayyeh said the Ministry of Transport is committed to coordinating with various stakeholders and the private sector to address challenges and update shipping and customs clearance procedures to improve supply chain efficiency and logistics services, and lift capacity to cater to growth in import and export activity.

The officials agreed on close cooperation and coordination among relevant parties, given the change in the global maritime transport sector, in order to enhance operational efficiency and improve services provided to the transport and trade sectors, the statement said.
